One of the saddest things about Covid is our inability to meet up in person to share memories and to reminisce about people we have lost.  We look forward to doing this as soon as possible; meanwhile here is a “virtual” place to share your thoughts, memories and photos of Dad, Grandad and Bill.  Or just to read along.

We’d love you to add comments and photos to any or all of the pages, and we will merge them into the main site as we go along.  Just type into the comment box at the bottom of every page, and use the little picture icon in the bottom right to link to an image.

We’ve avoided too much detail about living people, because although the pages won’t be picked up by search engines, they are visible to anyone who is sent a link.

Hi Everyone,

For those of you who aren’t on Facebook, this is the tribute to Dad which I shared on 28/01/2021.I will also share the photos which I included X

Sadly Dad passed away yesterday aged 96. I’m just grateful we could spend his last weekend with him, but so sad we weren’t able to see as much of him as we would have liked. Thankfully Dad saw all his 4 children and 2 of his Grandchildren in the week before he passed. My Brother and Sister-in-law were with him then.
Dad had survived so many things, including driving his communications truck through Germany and Belgium during WWII when he was just 18. When he married Mum they ran a Newsagents while my 3 brothers were small, when I came along they sold up and he became a postman. Later he worked for B.T. in the Telephone exchange and he even climbed telegraph poles!
Dad was a very loyal family man and always put family first, even before his love of race walking and running, which he won lots of medals and trophies for. He always supported WBA as he was born in West Brom and later supported his local team Squires Gate, for whom he was club secretary.
Dad will be greatly missed by myself and my 3 brothers, his 8 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren. He truly served his family and country well and we are all so proud to have had such a great man with such great integrity as our Dad.
R.I.P. Dad, we will always love and respect you so much!

Now the photos are from when he was in the care home. This was our visit in August when we were able to see him in their beach hut for the last time. Our next visit in October was just a window visit where we sat outside and Dad sat in the porch with a mobile phone, so no photos were taken then X
